Certified, Legalised and Sworn Translations

When an official document needs to cross a border — physical or legal — translation alone is not enough. For over 50 years we have managed this process for companies, law firms and individuals. Entirely in-house, from translation to delivery of the certified document.

Sworn and Certified Translation

A sworn translation — technically known as a certified translation — is the form of certification required for official documents intended for legal use in Italy: civil status records, certificates, academic qualifications, company financial statements, judgements, contracts.

The process concludes with a formal act: the translator, a qualified professional registered with the Court's Register of Expert Witnesses, swears before the court clerk or notary to the faithfulness and completeness of the translation with respect to the original. From that moment, the translated document has the same legal value as the original.

We manage the entire process in-house, thanks to our established relationships with the Courts of Rome and Milan. The document we deliver is already certified and immediately usable.

Our process

1
Document analysis
Type, destination country, requesting authority: we immediately assess which certification procedure is required.
2
Translator selection
We choose the professional based on language, sector and knowledge of the legal system of the country involved.
3
Translation and review
Double quality check before certification.
4
Certification or legalisation
Managed directly through our contacts at Courts, Prefectures and Consulates.
5
Delivery
The document is ready to use, within the agreed timeframe.

When a document must be recognised in a foreign country, legalisation is required: a procedure that attests the authenticity of the signature and the validity of the document in the destination country.

Apostille

For countries party to the Hague Convention (1961): a simplified and standardised procedure, issued in Italy by the Prefecture or the Public Prosecutor's Office. The fastest method.

Legalisation

For countries not party to the Hague Convention: procedure managed by the Public Prosecutor's Office or Prefecture, responsible for attesting the document's validity.

Consular Legalisation

For non-convention countries, the procedure may require passing through the Embassy or Consulate. We manage the entire bureaucratic process without the client needing to coordinate multiple parties.

The certified translation service is available for all major language combinations. Our network of certified native-speaking translators covers, among others:
